Tiny Tigers (5-7 year old)
November 27th, 2009We strive to provide an environment where fun and a love for martial arts is developed in this class. Age-appropriate behavioral expectations are set for the students in this class to reinforce postive behavior in their various classrooms in kindergarten through first and second grades. We begin to set higher levels of focus on traditional practices such as bowing to show respect and exercising self discipline to listen as well as interact positively with other children and adults. We have more indepth and interactive discussions about appropriate timing to use karate in school and around the home. We also cover concepts pertaining to stranger-danger. Further instruction is given on how to block, punch, and kick as well as teaching basic martial art stances. The goal of a Tiny Tiger is to learn enough about the basics of martial arts at a young age that when the student transfers to the next level that they are better prepared. Key concepts during this instructional period include – personal fitness, confidence building through martial-arts, how to deal with bullying, self-discipline, and respect for self and others.
